Mops Cup II Rules and Details

Tournament Details

 - Round-Robin games will begin tentatively at 6:40 PM on Friday

 - All Raleigh-based teams should be prepared to play on Friday the 18th.

Roster Rules

- Teams may roster up to 14 skaters with a maximum of 2 goalies 

- Silver teams are permitted two “Gold” rostered players only. Bronze/35+ teams are not permitted to roster any gold players

- 35+ players must be 35 by 12/31/2025 and goalies can be 30+

- Players must play in one round-robin game to be eligible for the playoffs 

- All rostered players must have an active XL Sports World waiver on file before their first game

- Please send us a copy of your final roster on or before 4/14

Game Format

- 2-minute warm up. Teams MUST supply their own pucks for warmups

- 2 12-minute stop clock periods with a 1-minute intermission

- Each team is given one timeout per game. Timeouts must be used in regulation during round-robin games. 

- If the score remains tied at the end of regulation, all round-robin games will have one 3-minute sudden-death overtime period which will be played 3-on-3. All playoff and championship games will have one 10-minute sudden-death overtime period which will be played 4-on-4. 

- 8 goal mercy rule and games can start up to 20 minutes early. 

     - If one team is present and ready, the team that is late will first use their timeout, then receive up to 2 bench minutes for delay of game, served concurrently.

In-game rules

- Penalties 

    - Minor - 1:30

    - Double Minor - 3:00

    - Major - 5:00

       - All major penalites will be reviewed by tournament staff to determine if a suspension will be given.

 - On delayed penalties, once the goalie is pulled and the extra attacker is on the rink, the attacking team cannot move the puck back into their defensive zone once they’ve crossed the red line. 

Round-Robin Points Format and Seeding tiebreaker 

 - 3 points for regulation win

 - 2 points for overtime win

 - 1 point for overtime loss

 - If overtime ends in a tie, each team will receive 1 point

 - Seeding tiebreaker 

    - Goal Differential - Goals For - Goals Against

Price

 - $750.00 per team

 - In order to give first priority to the teams in order of interest, we are requiring a $100.00 deposit to hold your teams spot. This MUST be paid by end of day Friday, 4/4 

 - Payment must be made in full by April 14th. 

 - Payment can be sent to our Venmo (Mopshockey).
